Path to Enlightenment

“You are entitled to nothing, you get what you have worked for”

One of the most underrated poisonous feelings ever is probably the feeling of entitlement. The idea that someone deserves every good thing they ever desire without question, without any effort and without necessarily doing anything to gain it.

Entitlement makes people feel that their wish is the command of each and every creature that exists. They feel life should go in the exact way they want it to go, that all things must succumb to their will and everyone else should live to make they happy and content in life.

But that’s a great misconception giving rise to grave errors. Nobody is entitled to any good thing they haven’t worked hard to gain. Even one isn’t entitled to the possession and property of an individual’s parents or relatives if they choose to hand them over. Just as we dropped in this world empty handed, so are we until we work to gain something that has our name on it. Anything that bears our identity. Something that we can claim belongs to us because we earned it.
